Project Aria
Accelerating AR and AI from a human perspective.

What is Project Aria?

Project Aria, developed by Meta, is a research project focused on accelerating the development of augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) by collecting data from a human perspective. The initiative utilizes specially designed glasses equipped with groundbreaking technology to capture information directly from the user's viewpoint. This egocentric data is crucial for advancing research in machine perception and understanding how humans interact with the world.

The project provides Aria Research Kits, including the glasses and an SDK, to approved Meta researchers, industry partners, and academic institutions. These kits enable researchers to conduct independent studies and contribute to the future of AR and AI. Project Aria also offers various public datasets derived from its research activities, allowing the broader research community to work with unique egocentric data to push the boundaries of machine perception and AI development.

Features

  • Aria Glasses: Wearable device designed to gather information from the user's perspective for research.
  • Egocentric Data Collection: Captures real-world data from a first-person viewpoint.
  • Public Datasets: Offers datasets like HOT3D, Nymeria, Aria Digital Twin, etc., for machine perception and AI research.
  • Research Kits: Provides glasses and SDK to approved partners for independent studies.
  • Research Tools: Includes specific tools developed within the project, such as EgoBlur and EFM3D.
